Fortunately, the American government recognizes this epidemic as well because this weekend, on Saturday, October 26 2019, from 10 AM to 2 PM marks the 18th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Twice each year, the U.S. DEA hosts the Take Back Day to provide the public with a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs.

By partnering with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country, the DEA is able to educate the general public on the dangers of prescription drug misuse and take literal tons of opioids out of play.

As a result, the American people have been able to accomplish stats averaging out to:

  • 4500+ law enforcement agencies
  • 5500+ collection sites
  • 900,000lbs+ (450tons) of total collected weight each event!
