National Prescription Drug Take Back Day 2019: October 26

Take Back Day 2019 Pills

Prescription drug overdose is an epidemic that kills an average of 130 people per day. According to a 2018 survey on National Health and Drug use, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. Moreover, the main problem that Heally was founded to combat is this very same issue.

Take Back Day 2019

Fortunately, the American government recognizes this epidemic as well because this weekend, on Saturday, October 26 2019, from 10 AM to 2 PM marks the 18th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Twice each year, the U.S. DEA hosts the Take Back Day to provide the public with a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs.

By partnering with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country, the DEA is able to educate the general public on the dangers of prescription drug misuse and take literal tons of opioids out of play.

As a result, the American people have been able to accomplish stats averaging out to:

  • 4500+ law enforcement agencies
  • 5500+ collection sites
  • 900,000lbs+ (450tons) of total collected weight each event!

Furthermore, it looks like these stats are going up each year. Let’s hit 1 million lbs! Learn more about Take Back Day and locate a collection site near you.
